Soil salinization is a major challenge for agriculture in arid areas like Egypt, where high salinity reduces soil fertility, hampers plant growth, and threatens food security. The DESALT demonstration project in Egypt, led by Nectaerra, focused on innovative strategies for soil restoration and biodiversity preservation. Key practices included promoting biodiversity both below and above the soil, enhancing soil organic matter, and diversifying soil life.
