DESALT

DESALT (Dutch-Egyptian Saline Agriculture and Water Management Learning and Technology), is a Dutch Consortium with expertise and specialization in the optimization of cultivation and water management under degraded and saline conditions.

Background

The project started when a Dutch Consortium teamed up with Egyptian agricultural public sector institutions, private sector companies, and development organizations to develop and help establish commercially viable DESALT interventions.
With the express purpose that this DESALT technology (or interventions) is commercially viable and attractive to local partner farms.
This commercial viability is measured by assessing the positive effects of DESALT in their respective business and weighing them against the cost of implementation.
This way, the project’s overall goal is to establish the business case for local farm partners for adopting and paying for DESALT support.
